Southwest Airlines will permit you to have your little dog on board with you in its carrier provided you use it within the guidelines. Southwest allows pets in carriers that fit under the seat in front of you to be seated with their owners. However, on a flight, only six pets are accepted on board.
Due to limited space, advance reservations of your pet’s spot are needed. Traveling with pets is allowable but is subject to a nominal fee. The carrier shall be well-ventilated, secure, and comfortable for the animal.
Southwest encourages owners to make their pets ready and prepared for traveling to minimize the stress that the pet may encounter on its own. In addition, Southwest also allows emotional support animals provided that written documentation is shown. Larger dogs are not allowed inside the cabin.
