On Southwest Airlines, generally family boarding occurs immediately after the early boarding groups and immediately before general boarding groups. Families with little children who are less than age 6 years can board when the A group has already boarded and before the B group starts boarding, allowing families to get settled on the plane with the young children on it before everyone else on that flight boards. Of course, I always advise to check for the latest information in Southwest’s official policies on southwest airlines family boarding.
